Most people online who make YouTube videos think that it’s all about growing a huge channel and that if they get tons of views on their videos or tons of subscribers on their channel then that will equal success. Look, I get it, it’s what everyone says. People love to focus on the vanity metrics But last I checked you cannot take subs or views and put them in the bank. And of course, most people look at a channel with lots of subs or a video with lots of views as a money maker. If this were true then everyone that had a big audience would make money right? But not everyone does. This video makes me 4 figures per month in sales alone. And remember that story of how an Instagram influencer only sold 36 shirts? Well, she had over 2 million followers! And according to in-depth research by professor called Mathias Bartl, even with 1.4 million view per month your average payment from YouTube will amount to less than $17,000 a year. If you focus too much vanity metrics you might look good, but you won’t necessarily make money. All you should care about is money in the bank and that you are doing right by people.
